The seventh annual Farmer-Chef Connection continues the tradition of creating and sustaining relationships between farmers, ranchers and food buyers. During this one-day event, farmers and ranchers join forces with restaurant chefs, grocery retailers, food service operators, institutional buyers and distributors to cultivate partnerships and strengthen our local food system. Food producers and food buyers, both seasoned professionals and novices alike, will have numerous opportunities to make market connections. All attendees will take part in valuable workshops, and hear from author Daniel Imhoff, who will present his new book - Food Fight: A Citizen’s Guide to a Food and Farm Bill.

This year's workshops include:

CERTIFICATION: Claims, Verification, and Multiple Truths
FARMER CHEF 101: Getting Started with Farm-Direct Purchasing
FARMER CHEF 201: The Art of the Deal: Collaboration, Contracts, Prices
FARM BILL: In-Depth Discussion with Daniel Imhoff and Local Experts
LOCAL MEAT: Exploring the "Values" Chain
FOOD PROCESSING: Add Value and Extend the Season
MECHANICS OF INSTITUTIONAL PURCHASING: Schools and Hospitals

PORK BUTCHERING DEMONSTRATION

and others...

This year we are charging a $20 fee to help offset conference costs. This fee includes lunch and a copy of the 2007 Guide to Local and Seasonal Products.

As in years past, the participation of food producers and food buyers is what makes the event great. We look forward to your participation!

Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please register by February 21st. Click here to register!
